Support the filmTed Owens was born in Bedford, Indiana, in February 1920. He served in the Navy from 1941 to 1945 and studied electronics at Purdue. He later worked as a typist for J. B. Rhine at Duke University until 1947. Owens died on December 28, 1987.
Owens claimed membership in Mensa, a genius-level IQ and experience in more than twenty trades. These assertions became part of the identity he constructed around himself.
In 1965, Owens said that beings he called Space Intelligences had performed psychic surgery on his brain. He claimed they had given him psychokinetic abilities. He later called himself the “PK Man.”
